I love food, and I love to cook. As a grad student, food is sometimes one of the few highlights of my week and a successful cooking experiment, measured of course in tastiness, can make up for a less than successful paper. Though I've always loved to cook, I haven't always been particularly good at it, something my family amusedly continues to remind me. Fortunately, culinary astuteness runs in the family - both of my grandmothers were fabulous cooks and, I suspect, used their culinary powers in a friendly contest to attract us to their tables for holidays. So, after many years of trial and error, it's rare that my chocolate cookies come out, well, blackened.
This blog will be a place for me to chronicle my cooking adventures as I try to feed myself on a budget and find creative ways to use the leftovers that invariably stick around when you're cooking for one!
